Nobu Okada pondrá en órbita satélites que localizan, persiguen y atrapan con un imán la basura y después entran en la atmósfera para inmolarse con los desechos.
Más de 7.000 toneladas de chatarra orbitan la Tierra y esa cantidad no parará de crecer en los próximos años debido al despliegue de satélites de comunicaciones y al nuevo impulso de la carrera espacial. A ellos se suman los meteoritos de origen natural. Todos esos objetos suponen un problema, ya que no existe una regulación específica para la recolección y destrucción de desperdicios en el espacio y existe el riesgo de que colisionen con satélites activos o de que se precipiten sobre la Tierra. Pero también hay quien ha visto en estos vertederos estelares una oportunidad de negocio. Nobu Okada es de ellos.
